Who We
Are
In 2001 the Iowa Aftercare Services Network
began providing services to assist young
adults make the transition from foster
care placement to self-sufficiency and
independence. Each year over 200
youth age out of foster care in Iowa.
These young adults often have to face
challenges and obstacles of entering
adulthood alone. The Iowa
Aftercare Services Network is a major initiative funded
Department of Human Services in response to the
Chafee
Foster Care Independence Act of 1999.
We are committed to addressing
the needs of young adults who have
aged-out of foster care.
Youth and Shelter
Services Ames is the lead
agency providing
fiscal
management and oversight of the
contract.
The Youth
Policy Institute of Iowa
located in Des Moines provides central
coordination.
