The Youth Policy Institute of Iowa is a nonprofit organization established to bring together people, ideas, and resources to improve and inform policies and programs that impact young people.  
Founded in 2000, the Institute works to improve the delivery of services and supports for Iowa youth by partnering with public and private entities throughout the state.  The Institute, which is involved in a wide range of initiatives, specializes in policies and programs affecting youth transitioning from adolescence to adulthood.
About Us

OUR ROLE:  

· Identify major issues, assess state and community needs, and analyze existing policies affecting youth

· Convene stakeholders and facilitate processes to explore alternatives and develop solutions to critical youth issues

· Lead efforts to better utilize and coordinate existing resources

· Develop, test and replicate new and innovative approaches to working with youth and young adults  

· Evaluate youth program operations, assess quality and efficiency, report outcomes, and recommend improvements in policy and practice

· Research and distribute information and resources about youth issues and effective youth development programs and practices

The Youth Policy Institute of Iowa is directed by Carol Behrer who has more than 25 years of experience in federal and state policy arenas.  The YPII staff of six full-time professionals has a range of experience and expertise in youth development, public policy, social work, facilitation, research and evaluation.
